What a long, strange year it's been. But, you're doing great!

I am so happy to be able to see people on a regular basis.

Because of the CDC recommendations of wearing a mask, I still mostly just see people’s eyes. I miss seeing people’s cheekbones and chins. And their smiles.

But, I feel fortunate to see people at all, given that many who work from home are isolated from other humans. So many of my clients have noted that they have forgotten how to interact with other people. But from where I stand, they are doing just fine.

This pandemic has forced us all to slow down and take a look at what’s important.

My friends and family, my clients, my dogs - these connections have become my life. And I realize I really love my life. Turns out I like cooking and am pretty good at it. Luc has become the master baker in our house, and we have both developed a pizza obsession. You may eventually see a wood fired oven on our back patio!

I hope you all have found what makes you happy. Maybe it’s working a lot, or not working at all. Maybe it’s writing, or being in nature. A lot of people have taken up running and hiking. Whatever it is, the fact that you’re moving forward and finding your joy is a win. Keep up the good work!

Cheers!

During these unprecedented times, Thank You for caring.

As we shelter in place and respect the recommendations for social distancing, I find myself without a job. Due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, I, and my service industry colleagues, have had to shut down our business in order to “flatten the curve”.

However, I want to thank everyone who has checked in, offered to prepay for their next appointment, or ordered product during this time. It means a lot, and I cannot thank you enough. I also thank you for your flexibility with rescheduling your appointments. It is definitely not ideal for any of us.

More than ever, when I know people are stressed about the uncertainty of the future, I want to use my craft to help you feel better. I look forward to when I can see you all again, but I’m sure after putting your appointments off for a few weeks or months, I will have my work cut out for me. If you need to take scissors to your own hair, I won’t be mad. I’ll just fix it when I can, and we can have a good laugh.

Thank you for your support. Take care of yourselves and I’ll see you soon.

"I want one!"

I’ve been working in my studio for a few months, and the reaction from clients has been so positive!

Along with the wonderful compliments on the style and craftsmanship, my favorite response was “I want one”! Meaning, a calm and restorative space that can be used for multiple purposes that is detached from the dwelling in which you live. I wish everyone had a little house to create and relax, inspire and excite.

Luc recently asked if I thought I might eventually tire of working in the studio. The answer is no. I love it so much. With the simplification of my life came the desire (and time) to take more classes on cutting, coloring and styling. Even though I feel accomplished in my field, there is always more to learn and new ways of achieving beauty and confidence. This move has allowed me to focus more on connecting with my creativity and to hone my craft.

I have recently taken a full day barbering class here in Portland and will be taking a two day razor cutting seminar in the Bay Area at the end of April. I’m super excited to head down there with my haIr bestie, Elys, so we can get our learn on.

I hope everyone is having a great spring!

Cheers,

Patti

The new green.

green. is changing. We are now a small one person studio, with attention to progression and style in the Pacific Northwest.

Style is paramount, with precision hair cutting lending to easy daily styling. Sustainable products and practices make way for beauty to take center stage, naturally.

We still focus on sustainability, but this ideal is much easier to realize as a one chair studio. The space is much more eco-friendly, with all new windows and doors. The smaller space is easier to heat, especially with our European wood stove, and also easier to cool, with our mini-split heating and cooling system.

green. is closing

Dear Clients,

green. will be closing at the end of the year.

When we opened the salon almost 10 years ago, we wanted to create a space where clients, stylists, estheticians and managers would enjoy coming. We had many years of success and the journey has been rewarding. However, we have a year to year lease on the building without a long term option, and the landscape of Portland has changed dramatically.

The decision was not made lightly. We realize this change will impact all of you, and change can be challenging in whatever form it takes. But it is also an exciting time.

We have chosen to simplify our lives, so my husband and I are building a little salon in the detached garage behind our home. It will just be a one woman show, in a great space, with a couple of dogs running around.

We hope you will continue to support your stylist and/or esthetician in their next endeavor. If they haven’t already, they will be letting you know where to find them.

We want to thank each and every one of you for your support. It’s been a great ride.

Cheers to ten great years!

Sincerely,

Patti Green and the green. team
